The User Experience

A good user experience is predicated on high performance:
  • A webpage that takes more than 0.5 seconds to load will impact business metrics.
  • Page load delay is also called latency.
  • Lower latency allows the user to learn how to use and navigate your website, and thus will improve user satisfaction.
  • High latency is distracting to the user, and over time you will lose their interest.
  • A webpage that takes more than 2.0 seconds to load must be loaded progressively.
  • This is why for Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, Shopzilla, etc, reducing page load latency is a top priority.
  • For Microsoft, revenue per user dropped by 4.3%, when latency increased by 2.0 seconds.
